Can’t get enough of the snow? How about continuing to feed your passion by teaching skiing or riding this summer. Perisher resort in Australia is a member of the Vail Resorts family and would like to attract a number of Level 2 or 3 instructors to work their winter (our summer). Many of you including myself have done this in the past and can attest to the great opportunites, lasting friendships and outstanding experiences that resulted.
It’s relatively easy to obtain work authorization under Australia’s 462 (work and holiday) visa:
- Applicant must be age 31 or below.
- No company sponsorship is required.
- The 462 visa is good for up to one year in Australia, with up to six months of work with one employer.
- Applicant must apply for, obtain and pay for the 462 visa, which costs ~$360 and takes about one month to obtain.
- Perisher pays instructors an equivalent of $21 to $26 per hour in US dollars ($28 to $35 AUs$). Instructors would be entitled to a travel reimbursement of US $375 to $600 depending on certification level.
For those who are ineligible for the 462 visa (traveled to Australia on this visa previously or 32+ years old), Perisher has a limited number of sponsorship visas under the following conditions:
- Must be a Level 2 or above certified instructor
- The visa cost is approximately US$850
- Sponsored visa staff are given a travel reimbursement of up to US$900
