Avoiding Collisions

AVOIDING COLLISIONS

By Skiing/Riding in control and being aware of your surroundings at all times, you can
help prevent a collision from occurring.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

1. Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Keep your head on a swivel. You may be skiing
or riding in control, but others may not be. Extra attention is needed this time of
year due to higher skier volume and potentially challenging conditions.
2. Ski and Ride in Control: Remember that the skier/rider in the front always has
the right of way. If someone makes an uncontrolled turn in front of you and you
hit them, YOU are at fault.
3. Stop in a Safe Place: Stop on the side of the run if possible, make sure you are
not standing just below a roller, and be visible to all uphill traffic. When you are
ready to begin skiing again, look uphill first and then proceed.

IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, OR ARE A WITNESS TO A COLLISION WHERE
SOMEONE MAY BE HURT:

Call immediately for a Patroller and do your best to keep the involved parties
present until Ski Patrol arrives
