Safety Message:

Spring Conditions

  • Be aware of changing conditions, specifically very slow and grippy snow.

  • Gloves or Mittens and Eye Protection are required at ALL times!

  • Be sure your equipment has been tuned for the conditions! See a supervisor or manager for a FREE "Safety Tune" voucher.

  • Sunscreen! Please do not apply your sunscreen to your guests. Please make sure your guests come with sunscreen and can reapply.

  • Hydration for you and your guests!

Utilize F.A.C.E.T.S. To Identify Traps When Decision Making In Risky Environments

F - Familiarity. Familiarity breeds complacency. Familiar terrain doesn't equal safe terrain.

A - Acceptance. The need to be accepted can lead to making more aggressive decisions.

C - Consistency. Refusing to change the plan because of invested resources. This is a decision-making trap, always have more than one plan.

E - Expert Halo. The most experienced person in a group can silence or overrule the concerns or opinions of others. It's easy to defer to the "expert", but it's better to talk it out, everyone's experience and perspective is valid and important.

T - Tracks. Seeing existing or no tracks as a reason to enter a slope. Don't make decisions based on tracks or no tracks.

S - Social Facilitation. We make more aggressive decisions when we perceive we are being watched.

Always Have a FOCUS

  • STOP and think before starting a task.

When In Doubt Remember The Number 6!

  • Students MUST be a LEVEL 6 and over the age of 6 years old to ride the chair on Chair 6, (Centennial Express)

  • Students MUST be a LEVEL 6 to ski or ride down the frontside of Beaver Creek due to early season conditions and limited mountain footprint.

UPDATED 03/31/25

Do you every wonder if you are making the appropriate terrain selections for your students here at Beaver Creek?

Our Ski and Snowboard School Leadership Team, in conjunction with our Ski and Snowboard School Trainers, have compiled a list of all trails on Beaver Creek Mountain and indicated the appropriate ski or snowboard level a student must be to ski or ride specific trails while in any lesson here at Beaver Creek. These trails are broken down based on discipline and age to assist you with your lesson planning needs. Please feel free to speak with any Ski and Snowboard School Supervisor or Manager with any questions or concerns.
