Situational Awareness and Avoiding Collisions
Tips to avoid being involved in a collision:
If you are going to deviate from normal path of travel make sure you check your surroundings for oncoming people
Always look uphill for traffic when merging or traversing across a slope
Pay attention!
Always stop where you do not obstruct the trail and are visible from above
People AHEAD of you have the right of way. Do not risk running into someone who cannot see you if you do not have ample room to pass
Always ski in control
Always ski or snowboard with a purpose
IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION CONTACT PATROL IMMEDIATELY AND YOUR SUPERVISOR AND KEEP THE GUEST WITH YOU IF POSSIBLE.
